Intro/ World Cup Predictions.

Hi, I'm Ivar and this is my new sports blog. Very generic opening statement, isn't it? Well, I won't go into a long and lengthy introduction about myself, I'll skip right to my first real post.

For the first time ever, it looks like the whole world actually will be watching the world cup. So far there have been numerous chances, but relatively little goals (9 goals through 7 games, as opposed to 18 goals through the first 7 games of the '06 cup in Germany). I won't give you an in-depth overview of each match, as you can find that in many places, but rather I'll give more predictions. A quick overview of what has happened so far:
Group A:
Team PTS GD GF GA
South Africa 1 0 1 1
Mexico 1 0 1 1
Uruguay 1 0 0 0
France 1 0 0 0
Group B:
South Korea 3 2 2 0
Argentina 3 1 1 0
Nigeria 0 -1 0 1
Greece 0 -2 0 2
Group C:
Slovenia 3 1 1 0
United States 1 0 1 1
England 1 0 1 1
Algeria 0 -1 0 1
Group D:
Germany 3 4 4 0
Ghana 3 1 1 0
Serbia 0 -1 0 1
Australia 0 -4 0 4
Now for predictions. There are 3 matches tomorrow, at 7:30 AM ET Holland v Denmark, at 10:00 AM ET Japan v Cameroon, and at 2:30 PM ET Italy v Paraguay. I'm surprised that Holland and Denmark got the time slot that will be watched least in the USA and Europe, as it should be the best game of the day. Holland should be able to score at least 2 goals, and I have a 2-0 win for the Dutch. Japan should fall victim to the great play of Samuel Eto'o (who was recently featured in a long TIME magazine article about the world cup) and the Cameroonians should cruise in another 2-0 win. Cameroon most likely would make a run in the knockout stage if they didn't have to face the Italians in the round of 16. And if they somehow manage to win the group, Brazil lurks in the quarters. Italy and Paraguay both play defensively, so a scoreless draw, however unlikely is not completely out of the question. I think the Italians manage to get a goal for the 1-0 win.
Since I just made my blog, I haven't been able to show my pre-world cup predictions. These were made on the 9th of June:
